Our volunteers help make everything we do at SFRC possible. Whether you can give a few hours, help with a special event, or share a particular skill, your time can make a meaningful difference for families in our community.

Clothing Cafe
Help keep our free Clothing Café organized and ready for families. Volunteers sort incoming donations, organize clothing and children’s items, and help ensure our shelves are stocked with clean, high-quality items.
Requirements: Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check
Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hours/week
Minimum Commitment: 3 months
Food Preparation
Help prepare healthy snacks and food for SFRC programs. Volunteers may assist with baking, preparing and portioning snacks, and making items that can be frozen for future programs.
Requirements: Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check & Food Handler Certificate
Time Commitment: Approximately 2–3 hours/week
Minimum Commitment: 3 months
Photography, Videography & Graphic Design
Share your creative talents with SFRC! Volunteers may help capture events and programs or create photos, videos, graphics, and other materials that help us share our work with the community.
Requirements: Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
Time Commitment: Flexible
Minimum Commitment: Project-based or as needed
Special Events
Help bring SFRC events to life! Volunteers assist with community events, fundraisers, family activities, festivals, and other special initiatives throughout the year. Tasks may include setup, activities, welcoming families, representing SFRC, and cleanup.
Requirements: Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
Time Commitment: Flexible
Minimum Commitment: Event-based or as needed
Reception
Be one of the welcoming faces of SFRC. Reception volunteers greet families and visitors, answer phones, provide basic information about our programs and resources, and assist with general front-desk tasks.
Requirements: Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check
Time Commitment: 1–4 shifts/month, approximately 3–4 hours each
Minimum Commitment: 3 months
Administration
Help behind the scenes with occasional office and project needs. Tasks may include preparing materials, organizing supplies, assembling mailings, data entry, or assisting with special projects. We also welcome volunteers who have specialized professional or technical skills to share.

Time Commitment: Flexible
Minimum Commitment: Project-based or as needed
Board & Committee Opportunities
Help shape the future of SFRC. We welcome community members who are passionate about supporting families and can contribute their experience to our Board of Directors or committees.
Time Commitment: Varies by position
Minimum Commitment: Based on Board or committee term
Yard & Garden Care
Help keep SFRC’s outdoor spaces beautiful and welcoming. Seasonal volunteers may assist with weeding, raking, garden care, cleanup, and preparing our Outdoor Play Park and grounds for families.
Requirements: Ability to comfortably complete outdoor yard-care tasks
Time Commitment: Flexible and seasonal
Minimum Commitment: Based on seasonal needs
Maintenance
Have a knack for fixing or building things? Volunteers with maintenance, construction, trade, or general handy skills can help with repairs, painting, furniture assembly, building projects, cleaning, and other needs around the Centre.
